Step into an older world, at the 2nd annual Oregon Renaissance Faire

Now you probably know by now that I’m a big fan of Renaissance Faires, and my wife and I attend a few usually every summer. Well, our first event of the year is coming up this weekend and next weekend, at the Oregon Renaissance Faire! This event is in its second year, and will be held at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds on June 10th and 11th, then again on June 17th and 18th, 2017.

My wife and I attended last year’s ORF (not to be confused with the now defunct “Oregon Renaissance Festival” that used to be held in Hillsboro, OR), and it was quite simply a smashing good time! This event is put on by the folks who run the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire every August, so you know it is a professional operation through and through! The site is just wonderful, easy to find with very convenient parking, and it is – best of all – under a nice grove of trees, which is always a plus for summer faires!

As you might expect, ORF features all of the usual entertainment you might expect at a Renfaire – Jousting, period musicians and singers, jugglers, blacksmithing displays, etc. They also feature a nice array of food and drink to enjoy, with plenty of seating available (as I recall) for taking a break from all of the wandering one does around the village. If you are in the Pacific Northwest, I have to say that this is certainly not an event to miss! So join us at the Oregon Renaissance Faire, if you will. I plan on attending on each Sunday, so if you go then, we may just cross paths…
